In Ayurveda, we call this special time where the land and ourselves are slowly reawakening after a long Winter slumber - Kapha Season.
The cold and slow hibernation that winter (Vata Season) accumulates in the environment and our bodies feel the urge to counter-balance the effects of the cold + dry Season’s Air and Ether energies (late fall to early winter).
So as we welcome Spring’s arrival, we can see and feel, in order to balance the heavier, denser, thicker and oilier effects of Kapha Season, we must lighten, clear things out and refresh!
We want to begin moving…but moving what??Your lymph of course! The word ‘lymph’ is short form for ‘lymphatic fluid.’ An in Ayurveda, lymph is known as the sacred carrier and cleanser of the body, taking waste products from your cells ~ clearing them out of the body for disposal.
You can think of the lymphatic system like the drains and pipes in your home, so you can imagine how things can easily get stuck and create blockage if left unattended. Since the lymphatic system has no automatic pump of its own, it relies on our conscious decisions in order for it to turn on and to function properly.
We have put together this spring routine to align and encourage the body and mind to shed, to reset and to awaken to the renewed energy of this new season!
